Representatives from Newry and Mourne Senior Citizens Consortium joined St. Paul’s Year 13 pupils, to take part in an intergenerational ICT project. Each adult worked with a pupil, during their ICT class for six weeks. They were able to work on various topics, including using the 1901 and 1911 census for researching their family trees and downloading a copy of the census form filled in by the house holder at that time.

Many also enjoyed creating a personalised Christmas card with their photograph, for their loved ones. Online sites were investigated with one lady booking her flight to America in the New Year and another is actually going to buy a computer with a specially adapted screen for the visually impaired, so that she can use the internet and email her family in America. Google maps also proved very popular with many getting a coloured printout of their house.

Everyone had a great time.
The project was well worth doing and highly enjoyable for everyone.
