Great fun at Year 8 Boys’ Football Blitz

The Boys’ Year 8 Football Blitz took place on Friday 9 May in Carrickcruppen GAC playing fields.

The competition took the format of an eight-team knockout tournament with each team being guaranteed three matches.

In the first round Down and Armagh, Kerry and Cork, Dublin and Louth and Mayo and Galway played off.

All games where keenly contested in windy conditions. The games yielded victories for teams Armagh, Kerry, Louth and Mayo.

In round two the winners progressed to play each other while the losing teams where also paired off.

So Armagh and Kerry battled it out and Louth and Mayo locked horns. In the other section teams Down and Cork and Dublin and Galway did battle.

All games were played in a good spirits with little between the winners and losers.

Armagh and Louth progressed to the A final while Kerry and Mayo had to be content with a place in the B final.

In the other section Down and Dublin were victorious and so made the C final which left Cork and Galway to contest the D final.

The finals saw victory for Louth in the A final, Kerry in the B final, Dublin in the C final and Cork in the D final.

The day was a great success with high skill levels and teamwork to the fore.
