The annual Shauna McCann Gaelic blitz for Year 8 Girls took place on Friday 9 May. This Cup was presented to the school by the family of the late Shauna McCann, a former pupil and captain of St Paul’s Gaelic teams.

There were 8 teams participating with each team kitted out in the colours of their counties.

The teams were:

Down
Armagh
Kildare
Galway
Monaghan
Antrim
Fermanagh

Each team played three games in the morning, with the top four teams progressed to the semi-finals of the cup in the afternoon and the next four teams to the shield semi-finals.

The Shauna McCann Cup was won by the Galway team who defeated Down in the final.

The Shield was won by Monaghan who defeated Armagh in the final.

The day was a great success with everyone playing, having fun and developing their skills in Gaelic football.
