St Paul’s remain unbeaten in MacRory!

St Paul’s began their third game in the competition with two wins out of two, and although the game ended in a draw, and the Bessbrook men remain unbeaten, they’ll be disappointed to have not secured a victory in this well fought game.

Played at Pearse Óg GFC in Armagh, it was never going to be easy for either side as the strong wind made it very difficult and brought mistakes from both teams.

St Paul’s opened the scoring with a point from Ciaron O’Hanlon in the first minute of the game, and they stayed in front until the last five minutes of the first half when Omagh scored a goal.

Omagh then followed with a quick point that meant they were leading at half time by two points.

Half time: St Paul’s Bessbrook 0-5 Omagh CBS 1-4

The second half started in a similar manner to the first half, with St Paul’s getting the first score from a Blaine Malone point. Omagh then went up the field and converted a free before a point by Ciaron O’Hanlon and a ’45’ by Eoghan Burns put the teams level.

Connaire Mackin then got the goal for St Paul’s to put them three points in front, but in an immediate response, Omagh went down the field and got their second goal of the game to again put the teams level for the second time in the match.

St Paul’s then took control of the game as Ciaron O’Hanlon kicked three points and Eoghan Burns scored his second of the game to put St Paul’s four points up with five minutes remaining.

A frustrating final five minutes from St Paul’s allowed Omagh to finish the game kicking four points without reply to finish all sqaure.
