St Paul’s are into their second MacCormack Cup Final in only their third year in the MacRory Cup. With three wins and a draw in their previous four games, St Paul’s went into the final group game against St Colman’s College, Newry knowing that a win would make them winners of Group B and put them into the MacCormack Final.

St Paul’s started the brighter of the two teams and quickly went three points ahead in the first seven minutes of the game.

St Colman’s registered their first point of the game on the eighth minute, however St Paul’s responded from this by kicking two points in the space of three minutes. It was then St Colman’s turn to put their mark on the game, as they found the net on the fifteenth minute to leave just two points between the teams.

Throughout the rest of the first half, both teams traded points and St Paul’s went in at half time leading by two points.

Half time: St Paul’s 0-10 St Colman’s College, Newry 1-05

St Paul’s started the second half like a house on fire, as they scored three goals and two points without reply to take a commanding lead in the game.

A St Colman’s goal gave them slight hope, however another goal and a point from St Paul’s increased their lead again and St Paul’s ran out comfortable winners in the end.

Final score: St Paul’s 4-15 St St Colman’s College, Newry 2-06

St Paul’s: Jody McGovern 2-0, Shea Hoey 1-3, Paul Quinn 1-2, Mícheál McNamee 0-3, Jarlath óg Burns 0-2, Caolan McConville 0-2, Mark McCabe 0-1, Cathal Boyle 0-1, Ryan McSharry 0-1.
