Principal of St Paul’s High School, Mr Jarlath Burns, led staff and students in an emotional farwell to Head of English, Mrs Sinéad McKenna, who is leaving St Paul’s after eight years to move to a new position with the Education and Training Inspectorate.

Mr Burns praised Mrs McKenna’s learner-centred teaching style and the relaxed and compassionate manner she dealt with everyone she encountered during her years in the school.  Mr Burns said that Mrs McKenna’s significant contribution to the development of English and literacy in the school, as well as her membership of various teams in the school, were testatment to her dedication to all the students of the school.

Mrs McKenna thanked the staff for the kind wishes and paid tribute to her esteemed colleagues in the English department.  She added that she will always have fond memories of her time as a teacher in the school and wished the school the very best in the coming years.

Please pass on love and congratulations To Sinead McKenna from Shimna Integrated College. Sinead came to us for a week of PQH and we learnt loads from her and are delighted to see a teacher with her values in the Inspectorate and hope she comes back into teaching some day.

I have no doubt that Sinead will make a valuable contribution to the ETI. Her humanity and professionalism will ensure that she will continue the outstanding work she has done in all her schools. I wish her every success for the future. She will be missed in St Paul’s.
