St Paul’s hosted a very successful Female Safety event where three hundred Post 16 girls from St Paul’s High School, St Louis Grammar School, Kilkeel and St Joseph’s High School, Crossmaglen received an informative presentation from the Policing & Community Safety Partnership and Rape Crisis Unit.

The purpose of this presentation was to inform female students of potential dangers and how they can protect themselves from harm.

Patricia Hamilton from the PCSP and Michaela Wilson PSNI were the lead co-ordinators in bringing the event to the school and organised that the Rape Crisis Unit gave an open and frank account on their work and the extent of danger young females are often in due to the use of alcohol.

Students were given the opportunity to ask questions to the RCU and a very interesting question and answer session took place. The students were all provided with safety alarms and encouraged to carry these with them at night, along with receiving very practical advice on how to enhance their safety at all times.
