Health and Social Care students raise funds for Charity

Pictured above is the Health and Social Care students presenting the cheque to Linda Alexander from Cystic Fibrosis Trust.  Also in the photo is teachers Mrs Marion McMahon and Mrs Tracy O’Hare.

Last year, Health and Social Care students at St Paul’s had a visit from Dave Evans, who spoke to them about having a child with Cystic Fibrosis.  Dave gave up his time to talk to the students about how Cystic Fibrosis can impact the decisions a family have to make.

The students were very touched by how Dave and his family are motivated to ensure their daughter Maya lives a normal life.

As part of his talk, Dave spoke highly of the work the Cystic Fibrosis Trust have been doing in driving research into personalised treatments for patients with this condition.  This really struck a cord with the Health and Social Care students, and they decided to organise a fundraiser for the hard working charity.

They arranged a ‘girly‘ sleep over party for our Year 8 students in December 2016.  The event took place on a Friday night and included a talent show, dance lessons, disco and of course a Christmas movie with snacks.  Over 90 students attended and £235.00 was raised for the trust.

Well Done to all involved.
