As part of the Post 16 Pastoral Programme at St Paul’s, a Male Safety Event was organised by Mrs Laura Hollywood (Year Head) to address important issues that our young men face. The event was also attended by our collaboration partner schools, St Joseph’s Crossmaglen and Newtownhamilton High School.

Newry and Mourne PSNI delivered two educational campaigns that are of relevance today. The ‘One Punch Can Kill’ and ‘No Means NO’ Campaigns are designed to educate young men on how to protect themselves and keep themselves safe. They listened to PSNI Officers present real life scenarios about how one decision can negatively impact on a young man’s life in terms of consequences. This Male Safety Event was a follow up to last year’s successful Female Safety Event, where Post 16 girls were educated on risks associated with going out at night.

St Paul’s would particularly like to thank Constable Michaela Wilson, who was the liaison officer for the school in relation to the event.
