Shoebox Appeal a Success at St Paul’s

Recently, Head of Year 8, Mrs McArdle invited Denise Nixon from the Samaritans to speak to all Year 8 students at their Friday morning Assembly.

Following on from this Mrs McArdle, in collaboration with the Religion Department targeted the Year 8 group into delivering as many shoe-boxes as we possibly could which would be going to Romania for Christmas.

Much work was done during Religion classes, though all the hard work and effort really paid off when Denise and her team came into St Paul’s to collect the shoe-boxes on Tuesday 17th November.

On Friday 20th November, several Year 8 pupils witnessed the loading of the lorry in Bessbrook Presbyterian Hall, with many locals from the Bessbrook area helping out to load the lorry.

Denise gladly informed us that St Paul’s had the largest post-primary number of shoe-boxes in the area, 208 to be exact.

All of Year 8 and the Religion Department have thoroughly enjoyed being part of this wonderful project.

Hopefully it will make someone’s Christmas that little bit brighter.
