St Paul’s Choir invited to sing with prestigious Irish Choir

The Girls’ choir of St Paul’s High School, Bessbrook, has been invited to sing with the prestigious National University of Ireland Maynooth’s Chamber Choir at their final concert in St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral, Armagh, before they embark on their tour of North America.

The NUI Maynooth Chamber Choir was founded in 1986 under Professor Gerard Gillen and was first directed by Dr. John O’Keeffe and since then the Choir has gained recognition as one of the leading university choirs in Ireland. It has mainly specialised in the performance of Sacred repertoire from renaissance polyphony to contemporary works, but its current focus is primarily on twentieth-century choral repertoire. The Choir has an established tradition of commissioning and promoting new music and has presented premieres of a number of pieces by Irish composers.

The Award winning NUI Maynooth Chamber Choir under the direction of Michael Dawson will perform an exciting programme by composers including Javier Busto, Jonathan Dove, Michael McGlynn, Colin Mawby and many more.  The choir will be joining forces with the acclaimed Girls’ Choir of St Paul’s High School.

The concert will take place on Friday 1st March in St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral.  The doors open at 7:30p.m. with the concert starting at 8:00p.m.

Admission – £5.00.

Please come out and support your local school choir.
