A group of Year 8 students from St Paul’s, together with their Science teacher Mrs T O’Hare and classroom assistant Ms McElroy, achieved a Guinness World Record at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, on Tuesday 24th February.

They were with Primary and Secondary school children from schools across Northern Ireland, who gathered together to take part in a massive enquiry-based lesson, to try their hand at solving a “crime” using science.

This was organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry and the British Council, as part of the inaugural Northern Ireland Science Festival, (an 11-day festival, taking place from 19 February to 1 March).

There were 29 schools represented and according to Official Guinness World Records Adjudicator Pravin Patel, St Paul’s set a new record. 1,339 students participated, which was way ahead of the previous number of 982.
