Turas Gaeltachta 2014

12345

On Thursday 3rd April, twenty four Year 11 Irish GCSE students and 5 AS Level students embarked on a trip to Rann na Feirste in the Donegal Gaeltacht for four days.

Accompanied by Irish teachers, Mr Quinn and Mr Mooney, the pupils stayed with local families where Irish is spoken as an every-day language.

The pupils were taught by local teachers every day and this gave them the opportunity to speak Irish with each other.

Afternoon and evening activities included: a historical tour of the area; a céilí, tráth na gceist (quiz), an evening of song and dance in Irish performed by local children, paintballing and other team-building activities.

We returned home on Sunday 6th April, stopping off in Letterkenny for bowling and a bite of lunch in Arena 7.

The trip was organised in conjunction with St Louis Grammar School, Kilkeel, and it was great to see our pupils make so many new friends from this school.

Tá muid ag dúil go mór leis an chéad bhliain eile! We are looking forward to next year’s trip already.

Below are some images from the students trip to the Gaeltacht.

This looks like it was an amazing weekend in the beautiful Rann na Feirste. Gorgeous scenery, native Irish speakers and plenty of fun. Congratulations to Mr.Quinn and Mr Mooney for organising an excellent trip. I am a wee bit concerned by Declan’s dodgy dance moves. Looking forward to going on this trip next year. Maith sibh agus go raibh maith agaibh do BL 13 as an chuidiú.
