Year 8 Shared Education at Ardnabannon Outdoor Education Centre

St Paul’s High School, Bessbrook, Newtownhamilton High School, St Joseph’s High School, Crossmaglen and Newry High School have been involved in several collaborative arrangements. The latest programme involving all four schools is the ‘Delivering Social Change Shared Eucation Signature Project (DSCSESP).’

The programme will promote joint work in the subject areas of Learning for Life and Work (LLW), Music and Physical Education (PE).  Through the LLW element, Year 8 pupils from each school will be exploring the topic of Cultural Identity which will provide an opportunity for pupils to investigate their own background whilst also learning about and respecting the background of others.

Before the students embark on the programme, the leaders of each school felt it would be beneficial for them to attend a team building activity at Ardnabannon Outdoor Education Centre.  The induction day have the students the opportunity to get to know each other and start building relationships by participating in activities such as wet bouldering, raft building, high ropes and wall climbing.
