Year 9 Public Speaking Competition

Our Year 9s had a fantastic morning at our annual Year 9 Public Speaking Competition, organised by the English Department. Each Year 9 was represented, with pupils speaking on their own chosen topics to an extremely high standard.

This year’s winner was Skye McClenaghan, who spoke on the topic of DEMENTIA.First runner up was Oran Harris, who enlightened us on the issue of CLIMATE CHANGE. Joint second runners up were Sean McSorley and Oisin McDonald. Sean spoke convincingly on the topic of TESTING CHILDREN AT AGE 11 IS JUST WRONG, while Oisin spoke about the charity THE DOG’S TRUST. Well done to all our participants and thanks to our adjudicators Mr Murray (VP), Orla Garvey (Head Girl), Niall Campbell (Head Boy) and Cahal McLoughlin (Year 9), who was last year’s winner.
