Year 9 student Caoimhe Larkin wins ‘The Big St Paul’s Bake Off’

Winner of ‘The Big St Paul’s Bake Off’, Caoimhe Larkin is presented with her prize by Mrs Eileen Fearon, Board of Governors Chairperson.

On Wednesday 3 May 2017, The Big St Paul’s Bake Off Final took place, with Year 9 student Caoimhe Larkin picking up the ‘Star Baker’ award.

Over the Easter break, students were given the opportunity to enter the competition via social media, were they had to produce a ‘showstopper’ entry at home and upload a photograph to the St Paul’s Facebook page or Home Economics Twitter account. The ‘very picky’ Home Economics department then picked the best ten entries that made the final.

The final took place in the Home Economics department on Wednesday 3 May, and all ten finalists were again asked to create a ‘show stopping’ baked good of their choice. The students were judged by our own Mary Berry (Mrs Eileen Fearon – Board of Governors Chairperson) and Paul Hollywood (Mr Dáithí Murray – Vice-Principal).

An outstanding array of skills and techniques were displayed with a tasty assortment of delights produced.

Caoimhe was selected as the ‘Star Baker’, with Year 9 student Shane Malone coming second and Year 8 student Eabh McParland coming third.

The top ten finalists were;

  • Maria Lamph 0881
  • Katie Lavelle 0881
  • Eabh McParland-Watson 0881
  • Sophia Sloan 0923
  • Anna Rice 0923
  • Shane Malone 0962
  • Caitlin Coffey 0962
  • Caoimhe Larkin 0994
  • Leah Scholes 0987

Well Done to everyone who participated.
